Smuggler’s Bounty Jedi Box Review Spoilers & Unboxing Photos

Another two months has flown past at hyperdrive-like speeds, and we find ourselves again with a new Powered by Funko Star Wars box on our doorsteps! The sure-to-be-blockbuster Funko The Last Jedi box is now up for order, but before we look forward to the November 2017 subscription box, let’s be grateful for the bounty is front of us with a Smuggler’s Bounty Jedi Box review, spoilers, and unboxing photos…

Star Wars Smuggler's Bounty Jedi Box Review Spoilers Unboxing PhotosAs the prequels trilogy is my favorite era of Star Wars (put down those pitchforks!), the Jedi are very near and dear to my heart. So when Funko announced the Jedi Smuggler’s Bounty box, it definitely brought a smile to my face.

Unless the box was going to be made up entirely of Yoda, Obi-Wan and Luke merch, I knew we’d be seeing some prequels-era love. Did we? Let’s dig in and find out…

Smuggler's Bounty Plo Koon Pin Jedi BoxUpon opening the box, we come to our usual bi-monthly pin and patch duo. The pin this month is Dave Filoni’s favorite movie character, Plo Koon. Everybody loves Plo Koon, and he looks excellent as a metal pin. Brilliant way to start off this box.

Smuggler's Bounty Jedi Box Patch Obi-Wan KenobiNext to the pin, we’ve got a Ben Kenobi patch. My feelings are a little more mixed on this one. The look on Obi-Wan’s face is sort of goofy here, and I’m not thrilled with Obi-Wan getting represented twice in this box while poor Qui-Gon Jinn is again unobtainable. I would have picked a Qui-Gon patch, personally.

Smuggler's Bounty Yoda ShirtUnderneath the flap, we find… the shirt. This month, there’s no informational card previewing the next Smuggler’s Bounty theme and detailing the contents of the box. I dig those little inserts, so I hope we haven’t seen the last of them.

Funko Smuggler's Bounty Jedi Shirt YodaThis month’s shirt isn’t a Funko POP Tees styled shirt at all, which always disappoints me a bit, since I like everything in my Funko boxes to fell, well… like Funko. Yoda is using the Force and looking deadly here, and the lime green, black, grey and silver shirt is very eye-catching–and comfy! Shirt both fits and feels great.

Jedi Smuggler's Bounty Box Unboxing POP Vinyls and PlushBeneath the shirt, we come to this month’s trio of main events: two exclusive Star Wars POP Vinyls and a Funko plush.

Smuggler's Bounty Yoda PlushThe only characters in Star Wars I’ve ever felt the need to have plush toys of are cutesy aliens like the Ewoks and Jawas, but Yoda is also a muppet (of a sort), so he’ll fit into my plushie collection well enough.

Star Wars Smuggler's Bounty Funko Yoda Plush ToyThe round eyes on this Yoda don’t look quite right to me, but the stuffed Yoda plush itself is excellent quality and is well-manufactured. As a side item, I think this is nice, but if Yoda was going to be a plush toy in this box, I wish a different Jedi had gotten to be on the shirt.

Funko Star Wars POP 214 Obi-Wan Kenobi Vinyl FigureFinally, we come to our two exclusive POP Vinyls–one of which a variant of an iconic character we’ve gotten before, and one of which a minor character with a huge fan base that we’ve never had previously from Funko.

Box Side Young Obi-Wan Kenobi POP Vinyl Jedi Box FunkoThe first POP Vinyl exclusive in the Funko Jedi box is the one revealed a few weeks back: an Episode III era Obi-Wan Kenobi POP Vinyl. This is my favorite era of Obi-Wan, so I have zero complaints–in fact, I’m elated to get him here.

Back of Obi-Wan Kenobi POP Vinyls Box with General Grievous Qui-Gon JinnIt’s a bit gut-wrenching seeing Qui-Gon Jinn on the back of Obi-Wan’s box and knowing I’ll never be able to afford one. I’m really hoping that we get a Walmart 3-Pack POP Duel of the Fates set with Battle Qui Gon Jinn, Darth Maul and Episode I Obi-Wan Kenobi someday.

Qui-Gon is just too important (in non-hologram form) to never be available to the millions (and millions) of his fans.

Close-Up of Smuggler's Bounty Prequels Obi-Wan Kenobi POP Vinyl FigureAlso, I know a lot of collectors were expecting a ROTS Anakin Skywalker to complete this box, but that’s a crucial character that I think is too important for the “obscure” slot in a Smuggler’s Bounty box. I think we’ll see Episode III Anakin at retail eventually, but I’m happy with the actual choice of second POP Vinyl in this Jedi box…

Funko Aayla Secura POP Vinyl 217 Jedi Box ExclusiveThe Funko Aayla Secura POP Vinyl was totally unexpected to me–I had never even considered her inclusion in this box until I saw a Smuggler’s Bounty ad with her in it yesterday.

As a very popular female character first introduced in the comics, Aayla Secura has a pretty rabid fan following. As such, I know a lot of fellow collectors are going to be kicking themselves over missing POP Aayla in this box.

With her pretty blue skin and lekku, Aayla Secura will stand out from the other Jedi and also draw the eye of collectors. Fantastic choice to round out this box, and a terrific design.

Box Side Aayla Secura POP Vinyls 217 Star WarsOverall, I’m once again very pleased with this month’s Jedi Smuggler’s Bounty box, although perhaps not as in love with it as I was the previous Droid box. I don’t like the designs on the shirt and patch quite as much as usual, and a few more Jedi characters being represented would have pushed this into ‘A’ territory. That said, I’m still really happy with the box. A fantastic value once again with two must-have POPs and some lovely extras continues to make Star Wars Smuggler’s Bounty one of the best subscription boxes anywhere on the market.
