REVIEW: Toynk Exclusive Star Wars Medal of Bravery 24KT 1:1 Scale Prop Replica

From the Golden Idol seen in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark to the magical (Time Stone!) Eye of Agamotto used by Marvel’s Doctor Strange, Toynk Toys has surprised fans over the years with iconic prop replicas that marvel in quality and design, all while not breaking the bank.

That trend continues with today’s review of Toynk’s Yavin Medal of Bravery 24KT 1:1 Scale Prop Replica, the golden award bestowed upon our heroes at the climatic end of Star Wars: A New Hope. How has this iconic Star Wars item never been turned into an officially licensed prop replica before? It’s simply mindblowing, so right there, good job Toynk for finally getting this historic sci-fi movie relic in the hands of Star Wars fans.

Produced by SalesOne exclusively for Toynk, the Medal of Bravery 24KT 1:1 Scale Prop Replica was sold as a San Diego Comic Con 2019 exclusive. Limited to only 500 pieces, what made this exclusive so special was the fact that it was plated in 24-karat gold. I’ve seen many “gold” painted variant figures sold as exclusives, but something made with real gold? That takes “exclusive” to a whole new level…

While not made of SOLID gold (it’d be too soft and expensive at 24kt), the exclusive Medal of Bravery still packs a nice heft. Cast in 1:1 scale, the life-size medal measures 3 1/2 inches tall and 3 inches wide, fitting nicely in the palm of the hand. To complete its authenticity, the medallion comes attached to an olive green ribbon measuring 16 inches. The fabric material used for the strap is sturdy and strong, so you’re good to go if you ever want to wear this around for ultimate Luke Skywalker or Han Solo cosplay action (I still don’t buy the reason given for why Chewbacca never revieved a medal).

By all appearances (down to its attractive gold sheen), the Medal of Bravery is very screen accurate. As mentioned, this piece is officially licensed, a point made by the Star Wars/ Lucasfilm logo stamped on the back, as well as the included Certificate of Authenticity.

All of this comes packaged in a handsome Star Wars branded clam-shell box, complete with a gold-foil image of the medal on the inside lid. It’s a quality box that you’ll certainly want to keep around, either for future storage or even on display with the medal itself.
