Marvel Legends X-Force Series Up for Order! Nightcrawler! Sinister! Latest News June 2, 2019 June 2019 has arrived, and with it has arrived the month’s first new wave of Marvel Legends figures for pre-order! Hasbro has relentlessly released “most-wanted” characters this year, and that trend is about to continue! Most of this X-based series was revealed at Toy Fair in February, but the wave-completing X-Force Wolverine stands revealed: the Marvel Legends X-Force Series is now up for order, including Nightcrawler, Boom Boom, Sinister and more! Single Figure Direct Links: Nightcrawler ► Mr. Sinister ► Boom Boom ► Cannonball ► X-Force Wolverine ► Guardian ► We’ve been waiting ever since New York Toy Fair 2019 to find out what unannounced figure(s) would complete the lineup of this X-Force Marvel Legends set. And today we found out that, well… it’s another Wolverine variant. Womp womp! But hey—in this instance, I think that’s actually A-OK! Because while we’ve had several X-Force Wolverine figures released in the past, it’s always been as some sort of store or convention exclusive set. Getting a mass release of this popular costume for the Wolverine X-Force fans out there sounds like a win to me (even if not the most exciting possible selection)! While this X-Force Wolverine figure may look like a simple repaint, he’s actually got new boots and arms that set him apart from his predecessors. I really dig this costume for Logan, and I like seeing it get some love. Thumbs up. Wolverine is one of two figures getting the double-packed (two-per-case) treatment in this series, which is always a good choice. But the other double-packed figure is just as excellent of a selection: the first new Marvel Legends Nightcrawler figure in many, many years! While we don’t get a teleportation effects ring with Kurt (we’ll all have to scavenge one from the Caliban Series Blink), what we do get is three heads, a sword and a sword-holding hand (plus a Wendigo arm)! With three distinct heads, there’s something for everyone here. Awesome. What may not necessarily be for everyone is the remaining four figures in the series: two classic X-Force members, a top-tier X-Men villain, and a dude with zilch to do with X-Force at all: Guardian. While Guardian is arguably the most recognizable member of Alpha Flight, he’s never been one of the most popular dudes around among non-Canadian fans. Hasbro is slowly (and I mean slowly) building Alpha Flight in 6” form, so this should fare okay-ish at retail—but still most likely the slowest seller from the assortment. Ordinarily I would have expected a new Marvel Legends Sinister figure to absolutely set the pegs on fire from how fast I’d expect it to sell through, but the response to this Mr. Sinister has been a lot more tepid than I had expected. A lot of fans seemingly just don’t like the costume choice for this version or don’t like it as much as the old Toybiz version, but I imagine that there will still be plenty of folks ready to devour this after a decade-plus Sinister drought. Finally, we’ve got two classic X-Force members getting their first single releases ever from Hasbro: Cannonball and Boom-Boom! The New Mutants are absolutely my jam, and I’m jazzed to finally, finally get a Boomer figure after decades of waiting. Perfect costume choice, perfect bubble-great blowing alternate head, perfect time bomb effects and time bomb hand… this is everything Tabitha Smith fans could have hoped for. Mega thumbs up. X-Force Legends Cannonball, well… I think he looks really neat, but fans have been quite vocal that they’re unhappy he doesn’t get any legs. If it came down to legs or blast effect, I would absolutely pick the blast effect… but that’s just me. I think the gradient on the Cannonball blast effect “lower body” looks awesome and I think this is a very unique figure that will stand out well on a shelf. It really is a shame that poor Sam will never be able to… well, stand. As expected, the X-Force Build-A-Figure is the Wendigo BAF that Hasbro revealed in Canada late last year. Basically, this is a repaint of Sasquatch with a new head and tail. I’m not entirely convinced that there’s a big appetite for this particular iteration of this character, but hey–he’s free if you want every figure in the wave (and I do). I’ll take him. The X-Men Legends X-Force Series is now up for pre-order, and is scheduled to be released in August 2019. Despite being two-per-case, I suspect Nightcrawler may end up being a very quick sell-out (along with Mr. Sinister). Really, Guardian is the only figure from this wave I foresee being a really slow seller. Having seen the official and packaged photos of them all, what do you think of the inaugural X-Force Legends series, Marvel collectors? Which is your “must-have” from this wave (if any)? Are you planning to pick up a whole set to build Wendigo or just cherry-pick favorites? The post Marvel Legends X-Force Series Up for Order! Nightcrawler! Sinister! appeared first on Marvel Toy News.
