Toy Fair: Marvel Legends Exclusives! Emma Frost! Doctor Doom! MJ! Latest News February 24, 2019 Though we’re a week removed from New York Toy Fair 2019, Hasbro debuted so, so many new Marvel Legends reveals at the show that I still have quite a few figures to talk about. I’m going to try to wrap up Toy Fair coverage over the next week days so I can get back to reviews, so let’s take a look at the newly-premiered upcoming Marvel Legends Exclusives: Emma Frost, Infamous Iron Man Doctor Doom, Corvus Glaive, MJ, Quicksilver, Magneto and more! Hasbro always goes big for the New York Toy Fair, and not only did they have nearly a half-dozen all-new series to debut at the show last weekend, but they also brought along a cornucopia of brand new store exclusives! Many of these Marvel Legends 2019 Exclusives were ones that had been making the rounds as rumored, although the reality of the figures ended up being a little different than what a lot of collectors had envisioned… The exclusive getting the most negative reaction from the event is unquestionably the Marvel Legends Doctor Doom Iron Man figure. Walgreens database listings leaked that a Dr. Doom was in the works, and fans jumped to the conclusion that it would be a classic ML Doctor Doom figure to complement the recent Walgreens exclusive Fantastic Four. The writing was on the wall when we got the All-New All-Different Iron Man figure in 2018 that there would be an Infamous Iron Man made reusing a lot of that tooling, clearly many collectors still had their hearts set on a classic Doom. I’m certain we’ll get that version soon enough, but I’m happy enough with this heroic Iron Man Doom for now. The pink effects pieces contrast the colors nicely, and it’s a neat representation of one of Victor Von Doom’s more interesting iterations. Not quite as reviled as the Infamous Iron Man, but still drawing some ire from collectors, is the upcoming Walgreens Exclusive Emma Frost. This is another figure whose name leaked prior to the show, and as such X-Men fans were picturing the White Queen in, well… white. Instead, Emma is in her Marvel NOW black costume from the Bendis era of Uncanny X-Men. Again, there’s little to no doubt we’ll get a proper white costume Emma Frost Marvel Legends figure later on, and hopefully that figure will get a mass release. I think the black costume as an exclusive is just fine. Walmart gets in on the action with an exclusive of their own with the Infinity War Marvel Legends Corvus Glaive and Loki two-pack. Corvus Glaive is the only member of the Black Order being released outside of the mass release Avengers Legends series, which is a bit peculiar and also likely to make this set difficult-to-obtain. This set was briefly available online for a couple hours last weekend, but has remained out of stock since. There’s some griping about the Loki repaint in this pack, but I’ve got no issues with it. I never liked the blue costume that was produced for the Ragnarok series, and Loki deserves to have his “death” costume represented in six inch form. Target is getting a pair of Exclusives of their own, and both are Spider-Man themed. The first is the Kraven’s Last Hunt two-pack I took tons of photos of at New York Comic Con 2019, and the other is a surprise Spider-Man Homecoming two-pack with yellow blazer Spidey and Zendaya MJ. While MJ (Michelle) truthfully didn’t do a lot in the Spider-Man Homecoming movie, Zendaya is a huge star and I think many will want a figure of her—especially if her role is expanded in Far From Home. An exclusive release with a fun Spidey makes loads of sense to me. The Academic Decathalon Spider-Man figure has gotten some groans online, but it features MCU Peter in his iconic costume that’s otherwise unrepresented in stores right now. Many collectors love the Hot Toys version of this, and a limited release for a six inch version is logical. Finally, we’ve got a set that unexpectedly went up for PO hours before Hasbro could even announce it at NY Toy Fair: the Amazon Exclusive Marvel Legends Family Matters 3-Pack of Magneto, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver! I talked about that molten hot X-Men set last weekend, and will be adding in-person impressions and photos to the original article later today. If you’re interested in this set, be sure to check it out! In addition to all of these items, there are several 80th Anniversary sets shown that are Exclusives, as well as items from the Avengers End Game movie that still aren’t allowed to be shown publicly. I’ll post information and photos of the End Game Legends Figures once those are able to be revealed (which I would assume will be right after the Captain Marvel movie launches). What do you think of the latest waves of upcoming exclusive ML figures? Are you disappointed in any of the selections, and which are ones that you’ll definitely be picking up this coming spring/summer? The post Toy Fair: Marvel Legends Exclusives! Emma Frost!
