I generally try to practice what I preach with regards to placing pre-orders for limited edition items early before they sell out and explode price-wise on the aftermarket, but sometimes I get careless (or is it lazy?). Such was the case with the first character released in the Iron Studios Avengers Endgame 1:10 Statue line, who quickly sold out worldwide and is sharply escalating in value. I ended up paying 150 bucks shipped for my Iron Studios Nebula Statue on eBay… was she worth the inflated price I had to pay to secure one at all?

Guardians of the Galaxy is my five-star jam as far as the MCU goes, so I knew the moment that Iron Studios announced her that I was going to need this 1:10 Scale Endgame Nebula BDS (Battle Diorama Series) Statue. I wrote about her here on the site in April, urging collectors to get their orders in early if they wanted her since she was being made in limited quantities.

And yet, some how, some way… I forgot to order a BDS Nebula Statue for myself, which I realized after Iron Studios marked her as “Sold Out” and confirmed on social media she would never be reissued or sold again. Whoops.

I hopped on the Wait List on the Sideshow Collectibles website for Nebula, but with little faith in a conversion on her, I decided to snag her off of French eBay in desperation. I ended up paying about 50% more than if I hadn’t been lackadaisical about the pre-order, but at least I got her. And now that she’s arrived…? I’m glad I did!

As usual, Iron Studios’ packaging for this series remains functional, but basic. There’s a nice still image of Nebula on the front of the box, with a few shots of the figure adorning the sides and back. It’s a plain box, but I collect statues, not boxes. No complaints.

Inside of the box you’ll find Nebula safely nestled in a logo-branded styrofoam enclosure. Tissue paper and a little bit of foam keep her snug and secure. Assembly is a cinch. The statue come in only two pieces—figure and base—and assembles smoothly in about two seconds without a hitch.

Once she’s out of the package, it’s instantly apparent that this is another winner from Iron Studios. Despite the fact that they’re often pricing their 1/10th scale Marvel BDS statues rock-bottom low, the quality is as high as ever. There’s not a single paint flaw or uneven line that I can spot on this piece, and every iota of paint detail on her is authentic to the movie as near as I can tell.

The orange panel on her head, coupled with the destroyed Avengers HQ base, implies that this is the past/evil Nebula specifically. I think that works fine, as the heroes in this diorama series greatly outnumber the villains, but if you prefer to believe this is the heroic Nebula, well… feel free! It’s your figure, after all.

Sometimes Iron Studios doesn’t quite nail the actor likeness—it can be especially difficult in the small 1:10 scale—but I can clearly see Karen Gillan in the portrait here, and I think the fiercely serious expression is a complete match for the character. Good stuff.

Pose-wise, she’s action-posed with her left arm fully-extended to fire her blaster pistol and her right knee bent for support. It’s a simply pose, but it’s also one that feels natural and accurate.

About the only thing I’m not wild about on this piece is the base. While the rubble of Avengers headquarters is neat and all (and who doesn’t love seeing that trashed ‘A’?), the explosion effects on the back feel a little bizarre and off-putting to me.

It’s not a deal breaker for me—especially on the back of the base—but the explosion and debris flying out definitely feels like it’s of a lower standard of realism than the rest of this very authentic statue. Seems more like a lava fart popping out of the terrain than a fiery conflagration, in my opinon.

Overall: As a highly-limited 9” Resin Statue that retailed for under 90 bucks, Iron Studios absolutely knocked their Nebula Endgame Statue out of the ballpark. The pose feels powerful and dynamic, the Karen Gillian likeness is there, and the sculpting details on her costume would be impressive even for a larger piece.

I’m bummed that seemingly a ton of collectors will be unable to incomplete the Avengers Endgame BDS series because of Nebula’s lightning-fast sell-out, but if you like the character and have a chance to snap her up (there’s still a possibility through the Sideshow Wait List if nothing else), absolutely do so. More brilliant small-scale work by Iron Studios. I can’t wait to have more of this series in-hand!
