Marvel Gallery Shuri Ant-Man & The Wasp Diamond Select Statues!

Avengers Infinity War may ultimately be the biggest superhero movie of all-time, but there’s still plenty of love for this year’s other two MCU movies. And so, fresh off the DVD release of Black Panther and in anticipation of next month’s theatrical release of Ant-Man and the Wasp, the latest trio of Diamond Select Toys Marvel Gallery PVC figures are all in honor of those “other” movies: the Marvel Gallery Ant-Man, Wasp and Shuri statues are now up for order!

Diamond Select Shuri Marvel Gallery StatueOne character who was a true surprise breakout hit from the Black Panther movie was T’Challa’s sister, Shuri. A dramatic departure from the way she’s been portrayed in other media, Shuri seems to be a totally unparalleled genius in the MCU.

Smart, confident and sarcastic, moviegoers took a shine to the movie version of Shuri in a way that comic readers never really have with the comic book version of the character.  While I’m not in love with the blank stare etched on this figure’s face, the paint deco and sculpting details look very nice, and I love the eye-catching sonic energy blast effects pieces her vibranium gauntlets are emitting.

Side View of Marvel Gallery Shuri Statue PVCIf you’re a fan of the character, I feel like this is a real “can’t miss” piece—I suspect the next time we see a statue of Shuri may be half past never.

Diamond Select Toys Wasp Gallery PVC Figure StatueAlong with Shuri, another MCU heroine is making her statue debut in this round of Marvel Gallery reveals: the movie version of the Wasp, Hope van Dyne!

Since Wasp is helmeted, we won’t be seeing Evangeline Lilly’s pretty face on this figure. That said, her wings and costume look great, and her flying pose benefits from her base being intended to display behind Ant-Man’s to give more of a “flying” effect.

Marvel Gallery Ant Man and the Wasp StatuesLike Shuri, I don’t have a ton of faith that we’ll be seeing more statue versions of the movie Wasp anytime soon, so I’m glad Diamond Select is making the most of this one. Assuming the Ant-Man and the Wasp movie isn’t a dud, this should be a big winner for DST in the same vein as Killmonger was due to the lack of any competition.

Marvel Gallery Ant-Man PVC Figure StatueOf the three newly-solicited Marvel Gallery PVC figures, the Ant-Man is easily the one I like the least. The way Scott Lang is posed with his arms fully extended to the sides looks weird to me, it’s hard to see the red lenses of his helmet in the official photos, and the penny base looks awkward in the photos.

That said, I’m not writing this Ant-Man Gallery Statue off—DST has surprised me with final product that looks better than the prototype photos many times. I think the penny base is a neat idea that may actually look really cool in person and just seems weird from the prospective in the images. I’ll look forward to seeing this piece in person to decide.

Marvel Gallery Statues Ant-Man The Wasp ShuriThe DST Marvel Gallery Shuri, Ant-Man and Wasp statues are now available for pre-order, and are scheduled to be released in Q3 2018 (July to September). That’s a lightning fast release if Diamond Select can actually get them out that quick, and would easily beat any rival companies’ statues for those characters to market. BBTS is offering each for $5 off for pre-orders.

What do you think of the first-ever Shuri and Wasp MCU statues, Marvel collectors? Are either of these fine ladies bound for your collection? And would you like to see more Marvel Gallery statues whose bases combine in the fashion of Ant-Man & The Wasp, or do you prefer your statues totally independent?
