MAFEX Venom Figure Up for Order & Hi-Res Photos!

Venom is one of the most popular villains in all of comic books to begin with, and with the Venom movie set to hit theaters next week, he’s become even more relevant and marketable than ever before. While we’re not getting quite as much merch for the character as you might expect (especially considering the zero movie-based toys announced), we are getting loads of comic-based collectibles goodness. And the newest addition is the first-ever from Medicom: the import MAFEX Venom figure is now up for order!

Medicom Venom MAFEX Figure Swinging on WebHasbro put together a truly outstanding wave of action figures for this summer’s Marvel Legends Venom series, but the one figure in the wave that we’ll and truly disappointed me was the titular character himself.

Medicom must have read my future self’s mind and gone in development long ago, though, because their new Venom MAFEX figure corrects all the shortcomings that I saw in my Hasbro Legends 6” figure review.

Medicom MAFEX Marvel Comics Venom Figure LeapingWhereas I bemoaned the lack of interchangeable hands on the ML Venom (Fists only? Seriously?), Medicom is also giving us both open hands and the very cool clawed hands that any figure of the Lethal Protector desperately needs.

MAFEX Venom Figure Heads Eddie BrockI also hated the oversized bobble head-looking Eddie Brock portrait we got with the Hasbro Version. Medicom gets it right proportionately, giving us an Eddie Brock head that actually looks like it belongs on the figure’s body.

Venom MAFEX Figure with Eddie Brock Head PortraitThe MAFEX Eddie Brock portrait definitely has an anime style to it, but I outright hated the Hasbro head, so this is my head of choice for an unmasked Venom action figure.

Medicom Marvel MAFEX Venom FigureSome fans are no doubt going to be angry that there’s no “tongue head” for this MAFEX Venom figure, but as this is intended as a Todd McFarlane/Mark Bagley Venom classic-styled figure, that head really doesn’t fit what Medicom was aiming for here. I would have liked it anyway, mind you, but I can live without.

Marvel MAFEX Venom Figure AccessoriesOne last trick this Marvel MAFEX figure has up its sleeves: magnetized hands and feet! This isn’t a feature we see implemented very often on action figures these days, but I imagine a lot of folks are gonna have a blast having this Venom figure crawling up their refrigerator or other magnetic surface. Rockin’!

Venom MAFEX 6 Inch Figure with Mouth Closed Shooting WebThe 6.3” MAFEX Venom figure is now up for order on BBTS, and is scheduled to be released in July 2019. Medicom does not have a license to distribute their Marvel figures in the United States, so it’s either pay to import from an overseas source yourself directly or pick one up from an importer like BBTS. This figure definitely ain’t cheap, but as a classic Venom comic-based figure, it’s easily the best I’ve ever seen.

Now that we’ve seen the full reveal of the figure and all its extra Symbiote trimmings, what are your thoughts on the Venom MAFEX, Marvel collectors? Is this truly the best classic Venom action figure made to-date? And are you willing to pay the hefty premium price to own one, or are you sticking with the Hasbro ML version?
