Justice League Unlimited – Snake Fate of the Ultra Humanite

Here we are.  Justice League Unlimited HeroClix by WizKids.  Box 10 of 10.  The last box.  And it does not disappoint.  Dr Fate (common), the Cheetah(common), Copperhead (common), Dr. Emil Hamilton (uncommon) and Ultra-Humanite, our 3rd super-rare.  Even in our last box, after 9 others, we pulled 4 new pieces.  That alone is pretty cool.  Getting a Super Rare doesn’t hurt either.

Cheetah, our one duplicate here really makes the booster thematic.  With Copperhead and Ultra Humanite, this booster really evokes the Injustice For All episodes where Lex hired a tam to take down the League.  In sealed play, pulling the 3 of these which go together might be quite advantageous.

Dr Fate.  I love the helmet.  I love the cape.  On both the Mattel and WizKids versions.  Dr Fate here comes with a power called “Duplicates of myself from throughout time and space” which allows you to play additional copies on their last click for 10 extra points.  Dr Fate appeared in Superman Animated and Justice League before becoming a member in Unlimited.

I posed both the WizKids and Mattel versions of Copperhead with a view toward their side profile so you could see the tails and the head sculpts which front shots would not do justice.  No shortcuts here.  That over the top headpiece is just well done.  The last time WizKids included Copperhead in the game, I used multiples to stand in for the Snakemen in the Eclipso episode of Justice League.  Copperhead can “slither close” with a combination of the powers leap-climb, sidestep and plasticity.

Emil Hamilton here suffers from “I look exactly like the other guy”.  While with Dr Simmons and her clone WizKids changed the hair and skin tone, here they did not.  Just making the generic Cadmus Scientists hair black would have helped.  Dr Emil Hamilton’s piece does double duty here, serving as both Superman’s ally in Superman Animated (“Invented the anti kryptonite suit”) and not so much in JLU (“Willingly joined project Cadmus”).

And finally, last but far from least, we have the Ultra Humanite.  Mattel’s Ultra Humanite is one of the few in their line who completely got its own sculpt.  And the accessory is cleverly both a scooter and a gun (the handle is hidden underneath).  WizKid’s Ultra Humanite has a very cool looking energy blaster AND mental energy emitting from his head.  Two different colors of translucent plastic.  His best reference from the show is “Busy listening to Mozart”.  Game mechanic wise, he stands out with Mind control that ignores hindering, elevated and blocking terrain and other characters.  Very impressive.
