The onslaught of Hot Toys Infinity Wars collectibles began last week with their incredible (and incredibly expensive) Infinity Gauntlet prop replica and the 1/6 (Pirate) Thor and Iron Man Mark 50 figures. There’s no rest for those wallets, though, as another duo of Infinity War alumni are getting their time in the spotlight today: the Hot Toys Infinity War Teen Groot & Rocket Raccoon figures are now up for order! Adolescent Groot is all-new, and Rocket, well… he’s got a new gun!

Thanos and Spider-Man and Iron Man are great and all, but the thing I’m most looking forward to in the Avengers Infinity War movie next month is finally seeing the Guardians of the Galaxy interact with the rest of the MCU.

So while Hot Toys got my dollars for their Eyepatch Thor and (somewhat overpriced) Iron Man Mark L figures last week, today’s pre-order is the one I’m most enthusiastic about so far: Adolescent Groot and Rocket Raccoon!

First, let’s look at Teenage Groot. Though he’s nowhere near his full size yet, the Hot Toys Groot stands about 11.6” tall, so he’s almost at the same height now as most of the human Avengers characters. It’ll be neat to have a Groot on the shelf that’s human-sized, and I love his “gangly teen” proportions!

Adolescent Groot’s petulant teen face is just adorable. Teenagers’ angst and moodiness can be awful cute (when you don’t have to deal with them)!

As an anthropomorphic tree man who just sort of lumbers around (no pun intended), the Teen Groot Hot Toys figure doesn’t need—and doesn’t get—a ton of articulation. He’s got 15 points of articulation built in, and from the photos, that seems pretty adequate for the character.

Groot comes with two all-new face sculpts, as well as a figure stand, five interchangeable hands (including a cool “attack” hand), a blaster rifle and a portable video game system. The sixth scale figure itself looks terrific and the accessories are perfect—this is an all-around excellent release.

The Infinity War Hot Toys Rocket Raccoon figure, on the other hand, is, well… a little disappointing. That’s because it’s almost just an exact reissue of the GOTG Vol. 2 figure that started shipping this winter, but with a new gun and without a bunch of other accessories.

I really like that new gun, but I’m not exactly in love with it enough that I’m ready to drop another $150+ just to get the same Rocket with a new gun. The Groot & Rocket combo pack is a great choice for those who passed on the GOTG 2 Rocket, however.

The Hot Toys Adolescent Groot figure is now available for order, both as an individual figure and in a combo pack with Rocket Raccoon. I flip-flopped a bit about buying the two-pack just for that gun, but I think I’ll take my chances and try to buy the blaster rifle parted out on the aftermarket once these are actually released.
