With stores claiming to have sold out of the tech toy, prices for Hatchimals have increased by up £240 on eBay as parents try to get hold of one for Christmas.

Following its launch last month, Spin Master’s new tech toy Hatchimals has reportedly sold out in many retailers across country.

With kids hoping to get their hands on one of the eggs for Christmas, sellers are now exchanging one of the Hatchimals for as much as £240 on eBay, despite the original RRP of £59.99.

Discount voucher website PromotionalCodes.org.uk has also seen a 300 per cent rise in searches for the toy, as parents seek out the egg for a bargain price.

Since the lack of stock in retailers, Spin Master has revealed plans to launch a new line of Hatchimals in 2017 to help keep up with demand.

“Over recent weeks, we’ve noticed an increase in searches for Hatchimals, or terms related to it including Pengualas Pink Egg, Draggles Green Egg and Owlicorn,” said Darren Williams from PromotionalCodes.org.uk.

“I can only see that continuing to rise as High Street stores run out of stock and parents become desperate to get their hands of the toy.

“We’ve seen them changing hands on auction sites for around £250, which is certainly a big increase on their recommended retail price.”
