DC Direct Shuttered as Part of a Company-Wide Re-Structuring

It is a very sad day for the toy industry today as news arrives that, after 22 years in business, DC Direct has been shuttered as part of a company-wide re-structuring plan.

Aside from DC Direct, which had just returned to the name on which it was founded back at Toy Fair, other DC divisions affected by the layoffs include the layoff of roughly one third of DC’s editorial ranks and the closing of the DC Universe streaming service.  The news comes less than two weeks before the planned August 22 online event DC Fandome, which is set to showcase upcoming DC film, TV and comic book projects. It’s not exactly a good look for DC heading into the event.

We wish everyone that worked at DC Direct the best and hope to see you soon wherever your toy travels lead you. It’s been a pleasure working with you all.
