FIRST LOOK: WizKids Games Star Trek Attack Wing Klingons

-Scott Rubin

Our Star Trek Attack Wing previews continue today with a trio of Klingons, a captain and two crew members, ready to fly to war in your games.  Check ‘em out, and stay tuned for even more new reveals later this week.

14 of 36 - Duras

Klingon ships are ruled with an iron fist by their captains, and one of the most ambitious and bloodthirsty (though dishonorable) returns to Star Trek Attack Wing with a new version: Duras.  The Klingon captain is 5 points, is still skill 6 like his previous versions, and can equip an Elite Talent upgrade.  His special abilities re-cost Klingon AND Romulan Elite Talents equipped to him to a flat 3 points, and whatever Talent he gets is placed face down until it is used.  With Duras you can keep some of your strategy secret, and potentially get a discount on a variety of upgrades to mess with your opponent.

23 of 36 - Kurn

Worf’s younger brother has appeared in Attack Wing previously in the captain’s chair, but now the tragic character Kurn can be used as a Klingon crewman.  A 4 point upgrade, Kurn is a one-shot mechanic to re-equip a discarded Weapon upgrade.  As an action you can discard him to return a re-equip a Weapon (5 SP or less) that was equipped to the ship and then discarded (for whatever reason).  This can be a very effective strategy when paired with certain single-use Weapon upgrades.

24 of 36 - Klingon Helmsman

Another new version of a previous upgrade joining the Empire is the Klingon Helmsman, though in a very different capacity.  The old Helmsman was a single-use upgrade that could let his ship perform an emergency Come About maneuver.  The new one, on the other hand, is a 3 point Crew upgrade that in the Activation phase performs a Scan action as a free action (for the cost of two Time Tokens).  Very few Klingon vessels have the Scan action, so this opens up a new mechanic and potential combos.

With these new additions to your Klingon fleet you’ll be unstoppable, right?  Well, later this week here on Figures.com we’ll see what new goodies are on the way for the Federation.  Stick around!
